Local Chipping and Waste Disposal events

Services Provided

· Bring us your tree trimmings, branches, palm prongs, brush and materials that can be chipped and we will chip them and dispose of the chippings for free. This will happen on selected 2nd Saturday of the months where temperature allows us to chip without a fire hazard.

· Performed by professional contractors, who are bonded and insured.

Guidelines:

Must be a service area resident (proof of residency may be required)

No contractors or commercial dump trucks

Limit 1 load per household unless we have additional room available towards end of event

·Bring it to us at the St. Pius X Rodeo Grounds, make an appointment if possible.

Unload it

Look for banners at 94 and Lyons Valley intersection for dates and scrolling banners on our website to link to the signup form and Facebook page for signup link.

Also Bring us your combustible trash and debris (no hazardous waste or tires) as well as large appliances and we will provide dumpsters for you to place those items in and we will dispose of them free of charge. This will run until dumpster capacity is reached or event time ends whichever comes first, and will run on a first come first served basis.

This program is offered by Rural San Diego Fire Safe Council in partnership with the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County and Sunrise Power Link. Funding is currently provided by a grant from Sunrise Powerlink for the chipping and Resource Conservation District of San Diego County for the Dumpsters and waste disposal events. No Cost Chipping Program

Program Guidelines:

Please prepare your chipping piles before you sign up for the program.

· no ground-clearing disturbance permitted while removing tree limbs or brush

· chipping crew is not responsible for moving brush beyond a 5′ distance from the chipper

· no palm, cactus, poison oak, or ice plant will be chipped

· brush must be free of mud, rocks, and other debris

· maximum six-inch diameter on cut limbs

· piles should be: no more than six feet high, within five feet of road edge, and with cut ends facing road

· piles must be fully accessible for chipping equipment and crew

· chipped material to be left on-site in the area, not hauled away

· brush or limbs that have been mechanically removed (by tractor or bulldozer) will not be chipped

· brush or limbs that have been cleared or stacked with a tractor, or bulldozer, will not be chipped

· contractors are provided with a schedule; final scheduling decisions are made by the contractor based on location.

Defensible Space Assistance Program

DSAP Services Provided

· Brush and tree trimming/thinning.

· Raking of dead leaves and pine needles.

· Chipping of removed vegetation. Chips are left onsite.

· On-site education about effective defensible space.

· Initial one-day defensible space clean up.

· Performed by professional contractors, who are bonded and insured.

Guidelines:

· Must be over 65 or have a medical physical disability making it impossible for you to do the clean-up work yourself.

· Must be deemed financially unable to hire a contractor:

· One-person household: Income is less than $2,842 (monthly) or $34,100 (annually)

· Two-person household: Income is less than $3,246 (monthly) or $38,950 (annually)
